About Dr. Nicholas Smith


Nicholas Smith, DPM, MS, FACFAS, is board-certified in foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery. In 2012, he joined the Columbus Foot & Ankle, P.C. team in Columbus, Georgia, providing high-quality care to patients in the area. 

Dr. Smith is a native of Columbus, Georgia, graduating from Calvary Christian High School. He attended Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, majoring in biomedical sciences. Following Auburn University, Dr. Smith attended the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, where he received numerous awards and scholarships.

While attending podiatry school, he is one of the few who also obtained his master's degree in healthcare management and administration.

​After graduating, Dr. Smith completed his three-year residency training at one of the top hospitals in Chicago, Loyola University Medical Center. While at Loyola, he served as chief resident while receiving extensive training in all aspects of podiatric care, including bunions, ankle and heel pain, foot and ankle injuries, as well as reconstructive forefoot and rearfoot surgery, and diabetic limb salvage. 

​Dr. Smith enjoys lecturing to the local community and is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the Georgia Podiatric Medical Association, and the American Podiatric Medical Association. 

​He volunteers within the podiatry community by serving on the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons committees. Dr. Smith also writes and reviews questions for the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners multiple times per year in Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia.
